Gerard Woods – CREST R&D Co-Ordinator
Gerard is the Research and Development Coordinator on the CREST programme at Cavan Innovation and Technology Centre (CITC), with responsibility for the development and delivery of technical services and guidance to industry in the areas of renewable energy and sustainable technologies. His role is to utilise expertise and research facilities from the various partnership organisations to bring innovative products/ideas closer to commercialisation and to develop companies’ capabilities within these sectors.
Gerard has previously worked in various Engineering, Project Management and Environmental roles within the Water and Wastewater Treatment, Solid Waste Management, and the Renewable Energy sectors. More recently he has worked in the heat pump and biomass gasification areas.
Gerard has an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from DIT Bolton Street and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering (Distinction) from Queen’s University Belfast. Since becoming a Chartered Engineer in 2004, he has completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy and Energy Management through University of Ulster, and is currently completing a Masters Degree in Renewable Energy at Dundalk Institute of Technology.
Andrea Corrigan – CREST Industrial Technology and Training Associate
Andrea has joined CITC as Industrial Technology and Training Associate on the CREST programme and is involved in designing, developing and delivering projects, services and workshops for industry through the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies. This role includes recruiting companies for the CREST project; promoting CREST facilities, services and activities; developing R&D proposals and projects; technical mentoring; operation and demonstration of CREST equipment.
Andrea has previously worked in various environmental roles and brings experience of environmental management both in industry and agriculture to her role in CITC. In the past, she has been involved in sustainability projects relating to energy, water and waste efficiency and in renewable energy projects in agriculture. More recently Andrea has worked in Northern Ireland Environment Agency (Dept. of Environment NI) in the area of licensing and regulation of environmental activities in industry and agriculture.
Andrea is a graduate of the University of Ulster with an Honours Degree in Environmental Science and of the Institute of Technology, Sligo with a Masters Degree (Distinction) in Environmental Protection. She has also completed studies in Rural Development through University College Dublin and in Environmental Management through Cork Institute of Technology.
